Development 2030
The GEF is a strategic partner for the Guardian’s new Development 2030 campaign, #Dev2030.

In 2015, the world embarked on a new course – setting itself 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with 169 targets, to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity.

How will they be implemented? The GEF is helping to sponsor a campaign by the Guardian, Development 2030  #DEV2030, launched last year to highlight issues, ideas and solutions for putting both the SDGs and the landmark Paris Climate Agreement into practice.

On September 22nd, the Guardian and UNICEF, in partnership with the GEF, held their annual leadership event in New York alongside the UN General Assembly. Entitled Maintaining the Momentum for the SDGs, it looked at how successfully the global community is following up on their adoption.

As part of the Development 2030 campaign, the GEF is publishing articles by leaders in the sustainable development community on the state of the global commons and how to address it. The articles are featured in a special “GEF Partner Zone” in the online Guardian newspaper. The views and opinions expressed are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any other agency, organization, employer or company.
