Until last October 2011, Akila had been working for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), The World Bank Group, South Asia Department in the Finance team. She worked in the area of Financial Management, Budgeting and monitoring, Reporting and Analysis, and Financial Control.

 Prior to that, she worked with UNDP, Family Health International, and Howlader & Yunus Chartered Accountants in the area of Finance and Auditing.

 Akila holds a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She also received her MBA degree jointly from Commonwealth of Learning, Canada and Bangladesh Open University.
