The GEF International Waters (IW) Tracking Tool (TT) is designed to support GEF’s new approach to Results-Based Management. The TT provides reporting of outcomes at the level of Objectives and the IW portfolio level as well as for targets associated with the Replenishment. The TT allows GEF Agencies and the Secretariat to monitor and aggregate individual project results at CEO Endorsement, Mid Term and Project Closure. This is a substantial change compared to previous years where the IW tracking Tool have been submitted annually, but this will change now so that all GEF focal areas have the same tracking tool submission schedule.

The GEF IW TT is consolidating the GEF3, GEF4 and GEF5 replenishment targets and strategic outcomes and outputs as per the different IW strategies, into one Tracking Tool, to make reporting easier and eradicate problems with receiving Tracking Tools from agencies that have filled out eg a GEF 4 TT for a GEF3 funded project.
