Biography:

Linda joined the GEF through the Secondment Program in July 2010, to work on the focal area of land use, land use change and forestry on the climate change team, and the cross-cutting program on sustainable forest management.

Prior to joining the GEF, Linda worked as a Project Leader and research scientist for the research branch of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, most recently located at the Northern Research Station in Durham, New Hampshire. Since 1992, her personal research assignment was to conduct research on methods to estimate carbon and GHGs for all forests in the United States. This evolved into her research team annually providing the official carbon and other greenhouse gas inventories for forests for the US government since the early 1990’s.

Linda has a Bachelors degree and an M.S. in forestry from the University of Illinois, and a PhD in Quantitative Resources Management from the University of Washington, Seattle. She has authored and co-authored over 100 scientific publications and policy-relevant reports, including serving as a lead author on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Good Practice Guidance for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, and the IPCC 2006 Guidelines. For these efforts, Linda received recognition for participating in the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize award-winning efforts of the IPCC.
