| Biography: | Kamel Djemouai, an Algerian national joined the External Affairs team as a Senior Country Relations Officer on August 9, 2010. Prior to joining the GEF, Kamel worked for the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Environment in Algeria. He was in charge of Climate Change issues and has participated, since 2005, to the climate negotiations process. He managed UNFCCC National Communication, CD4CDM project for Algeria and other climate related issues. He chaired the African Group of Climate Negotiations during 2008 and 2009 and also served as a CDM Executive Board Member for more than three years. During his thirteen years in the Ministry of Environment, he worked on different bilateral and multilateral activities, on Environmental Education and Awareness and Environmental information Systems in Algeria. Kamel worked for a national public company where he was in charge of environmental impact assessment field studies. Prior to that, he taught for a couple of years at the University of Blida in Algeria. Kamel holds a Magister degree in Environmental Impact Assessment from the Algerian National institute for Agriculture and is also an Agricultural Engineer. |
