Lucy Vargas joined the GEF Secretariat, OBS Team, on June 7, 2010 as Program Assistant. Lucy holds an Associate Degree on Management Assistant as well as Simultaneous Translator. She obtained her degree in the American Junior College in Quito, Ecuador. Her experience with the Bank began in 2002. She was recruited as an STT for the Ecuador Country Office. Her main tasks, among others, were assisting the RM, SDN, and Social Development Managers in their missions, agendas, budget monitoring, etc. Lucy was also an ETT working for the Human Development Department for two years. As part of her work experience, Lucy was requested to come to Washington in 2008 for a Short Term Contract with the Social Development Department in LAC. Lucy was granted with a Vice President Team Award for her initiative as an ACS in preparing a successful Project for the Small Grants Program in Ecuador.  Prior to being part of the World Bank, Lucy worked in Public, Private and Media Organizations, such as Xerox del Ecuador, Pronaca and El Comercio.
