This project will enhance energy efficiency and reduce GHG emissions by introduction of energy management standards (ISO 50001), system optimization and expansion of financing opportunities for energy efficiency investments. This project in Indonesia is coordinated with other UNIDO industrial energy efficiency projects such as those in the Philippines and Thailand.

The project framework includes:

1. Introduction of Energy Management Systems and Capacity Building

2. Capacity Building on System Optimization

3. Financial capacity development to support energy efficiency projects in industry

4. Implementation of energy management and system optimization projects

Energy efficiency improvements in industry will lead to direct reduction of 67,442 tonnes CO2e; indirect reductions will amount to 522,960 tonnes CO2e, for a total of 596,402 tonnes CO2e reduced over a 10 year period. The avoided cost based on direct and indirect emissions reductions is estimated to be US$ 3.7 per ton of CO2e.
