This project will promote energy efficiency improvements in the Ecuadorian industry through the development of national energy management standards and application of systems optimization. The project includes the following components:

1. Analysis of industrial EE institutional and regulatory arrangements and development of laws and regulations to facilitate EE measures adoption

2. National programme to implement ISO -compatible energy management standard.

3. Capacity building for personnel involved in EE from the public and private sectors.

4. Demonstrations and installations of EE systems.

5. Project management

The project is consistent with the Ecuador National Development Plan, Ecuadorian Industrial Policy, and the National Action Plan for Sustainable Energy. The project is estimated to reduce 1.3 million tCO2e in direct savings through 2023 (including direct and post-project direct). Indirect emissions reductions are estimated to be approximately 3 million tCO2e through 2023.
