| Description | The project aims to conserve the steppe, sub-Mediterranean, and Balkanic ecosystems and associated endangered and endemic species within the Macin Hercinian Mountains, through strengthening the capacity of the EPA – Tulcea and other local agencies to collaboratively develop and implement integrated conservation management plan. |
| Implementation Status | Project activities were oriented towards impact on the conservation and priority habitats such as: research, landscape planning, development and implementing collaboration protocols, public surveys and environment economics. Agreements on environmental friendly agricultural practices with the local farmers were implemented on a surface of 90 ha of land, of which 10 ha were donated to the Park by the Greci Local Council. Biodiversity inventory continued and progress reports were submitted. A joint meeting of the scientists and the Landscape Ecologist took place in order to define the areas which need special management and set up priorities for further actions. The quarterly newsletter and a flier were edited and disseminated during several public awareness actions. A survey for defining the base line and indicators of the public awareness took place; results are introduced in the database. The Project Oversight Meeting took place in August. |
