| Description | Preparation of management plans and investment programs for the project 4 protected areas; a social assessment to identify the impacts of PAs on local inhabitants and vice versa, and options for aligning conservation and economic activities, design of a public awareness component; institutional and legal assessments; assessment of training needs; detailed project costing. |
| Implementation Status | Based on the Bank Mid-Term Review supervision mission in September 2003, it was reported that implementation was going well. The project was showcased at World Parks Congress Meeting in South Africa and emerged as a good example of regional cooperation in ecosystem management. Cooperation among the three countries in implementing this project has been exemplary. A 24-month extension through 6/30/2006 was granted to enable the project to meet its objectives. |
