| Description | The objective of the project is to accelerate the sustainable development of selected renewable energy technology applications through investment and provision of technical assistance. |
| Implementation Status | The draft feasibility report and power purchase agreements are currently being reviewed by WB and UNDP. The economic report (including IC analysis) will also be submitted by the consultant shortly. The WB will submit a request for a final extension to the PDF-B (till March 30, 2002) to expedite preparation of the final bid documents and project brief. It is expected that UNDP will submit for Council approval in May 2002. The WB is expected to be the executing agency of the project. 11/5/04 email from Yannick Glemarec: This project has had a troubled history with initial IA being the WB (from 1998) and with the UNDP taking over in 2001 the PDFB. It has been substantially redesigned since then in 2 rounds, through utilizing internal UNDP GEF resources (since PDFB resources were depleted by the WB but without producing an eligible proposal and relevant background studies). |
