| Description | ( This review sheet should be read along with the previous review done 11.10.99 and bilaterals held on November 10, 2000). The overall objective of the project is to support the conservation, management, cultivation and sustainable utilization of medicinal and herbal plants in Jordan while ensuring effective in situ protection of threatened habitats and ecosystems. |
| Implementation Status | The PAD was completed on March 20, 2003, and Bank Approval was obtained on May 29, 2003. Project implementation has been delayed by slow bureaucratic procedures and a project management scheme that does not reflect the PAD description. The last Bank mission (a TTL hand-over mission) was carried out in July 2004. Government of Jordan (GOJ) once again expressed its strong support to this ground-breaking project and assured the mission of its commitment towards improving the pace of implementation. During the mission, agreements were reached to address the outstanding issues and ensure full implementation. Increased disbursements are expected in FY05. MTR is scheduled for February 28, 2006. |
