| Description | The project will enable participant countries to improve the quality of their national greenhouse gas inventories in the context of non-Annex I National Communications through capacity building. |
| Implementation Status | The project will focus on the land-use change and forestry sector (LUCF). The majority of countries has signed the project document. A project manager has been recruited and will take up duties in April 2004 in Dakar, Senegal, based at the UNDP Country Office. The first tasks of the project manager will be to hire a project assistant, establish an advisory committee and technical expert group, and to advise Country Offices on how to select the national inventory team leaders under the project. The start-up workshop is tentatively planned for July/August 2004. Information sharing practices will be established with the sister project being carried out in the Europe/CIS region. |
