| Description | This project will develop sustainable models for renewable energy based electricity generation and distribution via isolated mini-grids. Initial activities will focus on a carefully selected pilot area, from where replication activities will be designed for implementation in other appropriate areas in Zambia. |
| Implementation Status | The project has been initiated and the capacity building activities as well as planning for the investments is well advanced. The Initial investments in mini-hydro, biomass gasification and photovoltaic minigrids are also progressing. Strong interest and uptake from ZESCO is evident in regards to the minihydro and biomass gasification mini-grids while the Rural Electrification funds will support the PV minigrid. |
