| Implementation Status | Scuba diving training was carried out for Ministry staff to improve their skills on monitoring results of marine surveys. An ecological survey was carried out in June by experts of the Ministry together with experts from the Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources of American Samoa looking at birds and bats. A monitoring workshop was carried out to make an initial assessment of the implementation of NBSAP since its completion in 2000. The positive achievements, experiences, lessons learned, was shared and reviewed by the relevant stakeholders and also shared with other Pacific Islands Countries at the Pacific Nature Conservation Action Plan Roundtable NBSAP Working Group meeting in Apia in April. The commemoration of the National Biodiversity Day in May with its theme “Living with GMO’s” focused on media awareness type activities. A TPR was conducted and the project is expected to be operationally closed at the end of December 2004. |
