DescriptionThe overall objective of the proposed project is to remove barriers to the (increased) commercial use of energy efficient measures and technologies in the commercial and industrial sectors, thereby reducing GHG emissions of electricity and heat generation activities. Specific project objectives are to:·Remove all existing barriers for successful energy efficient pilot projects in the commercial and industrial sectors. This includes existing financial barriers for investments in energy efficient equipment and practices for these pilot projects; and·Assist in removing/reducing technical, legislative, institutional/organizational, economic, information and financial barriers related to the replication of the pilot projects.
Implementation StatusJul-Sep 2007: During this period the operation manual for the financial mechanism FOPESIC was improved and finalized, including the promotion plan for the Fund. Also the selection process for the financial expert who will help with the execution and promotion of the FOPESIC was concluded. The first credit proposal from the firm Plasticos Vanguardia, who has already updated the results of the first audit that was carried out by PESIC, has been submitted for approval by the technical committee and is in the revision by the legal department of the CABEI. PESIC has been coordinating the proposal for the first norm of energy efficiency in Honduras for the compact fluorescent lamps, NOM 005 and it is expected that could be submitted by the end of the October for formal approval process.
