| Description | The overall goal of this project is the conservation of globally significant biological diversity and transboundary water resources of the Prespa lakes Basin. The project’s objective is to catalyze the adoption of integrated ecosystem management (IEM) in the transboundary Prespa Lakes Basin of FYR-Macedonia, Albania, and Greece to conserve globally significant biodiversity, mitigate pollution of the transboundary lakes, and provide a sustainable basis for the Basin’s further social and economic development. |
| Implementation Status | NEX component: Two meetings within “Training farmers for implementation of Integrated Pest Management and Integrated Crop Management in according to the EUREP GAP standards” programme to present the programme and criteria for selection of farmers that will participate in the trainings held. The first regular meeting of the Project Board was held at the end of August to present the progress of the project and to agree on the work plan till the end of the year. DEX component: International consultant for the assessment of the future role of the tri-lateral Prespa Park Coordination Committee has been selected to commence duties in early October. Trans-boundary cooperation and information exchange on good agricultural practices was initiated through the convening of a tri-lateral forum at the end of September in conjunction with the largest event in the Resen municipality – the apple harvest festival. The project also hosted a delegation of river basin project coordinators from the region on a study tour to Prespa. |
