| Description | The overall goal of this project is to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity through the development and implementation of sustainable tourism practices in the 3 par-ticipating Biosphere Reserves. |
| Implementation Status | Project status is overall satisfactory. A good start has been made in building stakeholder relationships and development of tailored guidance and tools to advance the implementation of objectives. Cooperation and coordination at the local, national and international levels appears to be functioning, with some delays in Poland. A number of guidance documents have been produced which will serve to shape implementation of various project outputs, including a tourism management planning methodology based on the UNEP/CBD Guidelines. A number of studies have been launched or completed in a number of different areas including institutional framework feasibility studies, legal framework reviews at the national level, and marketing studies at the local level. Communications Strategies, road maps and monitoring strategies have been launched or are developed for each of the three Biosphere Reserves. Statistical data collection for monitoring purposes is underway. Each of the Biosphere Reserves has expanded web sites, with specific web sites going up for individual project supported events. Training materials have been produced and approved by project partners and are being translated in local languages for planned training courses. M & E Sheets have been developed and project managers are using MS Project to monitor achievement of Biosphere specific milestones and outputs.
