| Description | The principal objective of this enabling activity is to assist Comoros in preparing a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan. This will also enable Comoros to meet its obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity by preparing its first national report to the Conference of the Parties. |
| Implementation Status | Two steering committee meetings were held in March and July 2005 to oversee activities. A training workshop has been held for staff responsible for undertaking the capacity needs assessment. A data base is being set up to accommodate information from the assessments. Preparations are underway to set up the Clearing House Mechanism. Training on data base management and GIS has been supplied. A reference list on the scientific and grey literature on the biodiversity of the Comores has been completed. The third national report to the CBD has been completed. |
