| Description | The proposal would aim to make development greener across a key area of the coastal zone by creating an enabling environment and change the behavior of economic actors within the landscape so that key mosaic of habitats and species are secured and their needs incorporated into economic development of the region. It will do so through mainstreaming biodiversity principles into government ministries and planning and through working directly through industry, particularly tourism, agriculture, fisheries and the banking sector. It will also support the standardization and improvement of the PA network within the region through a series of demonstrations, the promotion of financial sustainability and the development of local capacity. |
| Implementation Status | The Project Steering Committee (PSC) was established and held its first meeting in July. The PSC approved the first year activity and financial plan. International open bidding was conducted and proposal for award of contracts made for the: (i) habitats mapping, (ii) flora mapping and flora guide and (iii) fauna mapping of biodiversity priority areas. Also open international bidding is ongoing for the procurement of analytical inputs for marine biodiversity priority areas. Terms of References have been prepared for the following individual expertise: (i) preparation of integrated shellfish farming plans for three demo-sites, (ii) evaluation of bivalve communities in one demo-site and (iii) GIS presentation and critical review of fisheries regulated areas and other protection regimes in Dalmatian aquatorium including marine areas of Dalmatian counties and neighbouring Croatian protected ecological fisheries area. |
