The following preliminary objectives will be achieved as the NIP is developed: a) strengthening of institutional capacity in relation to POPs, which will facilitate the formulation and implementation of the NIP; b) evaluation of baselines for inventories of POPs, contaminated sites and obsolete stockpiles; c) assessment of socio-economic impacts related to reduction of the use of POPs, and health-related impacts due to exposure to POPs; d) promotion of exchange between stakeholders to outline national strategy towards POPs; and e) formulation and endorsement of NIP. |
| Implementation Status | The GOM and the Bank is currently working on the Grant Agreement. Since the GOM nominated the CEC as executing agency for the project in 2002 (before the proposal for the Enabling Activity was drafted) a new endorsement letter from the Ministry of Finance is required and still pending.
