| Description | This project will build capacity to fulfill its commitments to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and help to respond to the objectives of the Convention on a continuing basis. |
| Implementation Status | Besides preparation of the First National communication, the project built capacity to take climate change-related issues increasingly into account in general planning and strategy formulation for different sectors; enhanced general awareness and knowledge on climate change issues; strengthened the dialogue, information exchange and cooperation among stakeholders; identified follow-up projects related to climate change and abatement of greenhouse gases. Add-on phase: GEF CEO approved the Add-on Phase in April 2000. During this phase the project produced a report on Capacity Strengthening Activities on Climate Change in Priority Sectors of Azerbaijan's Economy. The report assesses technological needs, capacity requirements, vulnerability and adaptation of selected resources to climate change as well as provides list of priority investment projects. The project was operationally completed in March 2001. |
