| Description | The purpose of the proposed Project is to establish an efficient and operational trinational framework for the integrated and sustainable management of the Montecristo Trinational Protected Area (MTPA), and contribute to the consolidation of the biological corridors that connect it to the MBC within the Trifinio Region of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Jan 18 2006 WPI: The objective of this project is to support the initial implementation of the Integrated management plan of the Montecristo Trinational Protected Area in the Trifinio Region of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras through a trinational institutional framework operating in a participatory, integrated and effective manner as a means to conserve the biodiversity, natural processes and environmental services of local, regional and global importance provided by the MTPA and facilitate its integration into the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor. The MTPA will be the first and only trinational protected area in the Americas to be administered in an integrated manner by a single management unit, under a single management plan and budget. |
