| Description | The programme being initiated in this project seeks to test out a process whereby rural communities can develop an organization to obtain financing for their renewable electrification investments, procure the renewable energy services from private sector providers, oversee installation of those systems and contract for the maintenance of those systems. For this process to be sustainable, the households and communities must be satisfied with the electrify services provided while paying back the principal and interest to the relevant financial institutions. |
| Implementation Status | JUL-SEP 2007: During this quarter, the focus has been stressed on the elaboration of the information matrix needed for the elaboration of the GHG inventory of 2002. Consequently, there is a preliminary version of the GHH inventory for the “Energy” and” Industrial Processes and Product Use” Sectors. Additionally, the document “Strategy to investigate the emission factors for the GHG inventories” was finished; which has the purpose of prioritizing research needs. On Adaptation section, two project proposals on health and wetland management were written. However, those proposals need some corrections before their approval. It is planned to begin with its implementation on the last quarter of this year. On Public Awareness and Education section, the documents entitled “Strategy on Communication and Education for Climate Change” and General Education features needed to be incorporated into the new educational curricula were written and presented in the workshop held with Educational Authorities of Bolivia. Moreover, during the current quarter a budgetary review was done to change the total amount for the current year and to open budget for the year 2009. |
