| Description | Project launches a systematic inventory of Africa's greenhouse gas sources and sinks, develops Africa's indigenous capacity to carry out studies and projects, identifies carbon offset projects in energy and forestry sectors, and seeks to procure private sector resources for some of these initiatives. Small set of pre-proposals developed through project will be selected for final documentation in each country where project operates: Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Mali. |
| Implementation Status | The project activities are completed. Final workshop held in Accra, Ghana in July 1998 where the results of all the activities were presented and reviewed satisfactorily. Final evaluation mission in October 1998 concluded that project had successfully achieved all objectives. Results were presented at the COP4 meeting in Buenos Aires in November 1998 and were very well received by all participants. |
