| Description | Assistance to government in assessing specific investment projects and related institutional and policy options for limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Project also identifies and strengthens India's institutional, technical, and technological capabilities to assess global implications of energy efficiency and other projects which affect emission levels. |
| Implementation Status | In the quarter October-December 2001, all sub-contractors started work on developing the project briefs. Nine of the project briefs were ready in draft form by the middle of November 2001. TERI organized a small workshop on November 27, 2002 titled "Presentation of the Project Portfolios" wherein several donor organizations were invited to hear the presentations of the project teams. Subsequently, Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd. (IL&FS) was hired to review the financial components of the 9 project briefs. A technical review was undertaken with the help of Dr Dilip Ahuja, Ex-GEF Coordinator, the World Bank, Dr Ajay Mathur, Team Leader, Climate Change, the World Bank, Dr Sujata Gupta, Consultant, Asian Development Board. Additionally, a meeting of the Standing Committee was convened on December 31, 2001 and the Committee gave its approval for an extension of the project up to March 31, 2002 with no additional financial obligations. |
