| Description | Development and implementation of a management plan for the Tana River National Primate Reserve, which contains the last remaining contiguous area of indigenous riverine forest along the Tana River. The Tana Reserve protects two endangered primate species, the Red Colobus and Crested Mangabey monkeys. |
| Implementation Status | The project has provided an opportunity for KWS to identify a relevant research agenda for adaptive management and to incorporate the outputs into their planning and management of the Reserve. It has also built-up significant capacity within KWS to handle difficult dialogue with a community that is torn between support and opposition to the project. KWS has also built-up strong links with local authorities and the district and council, for collaboration in reserve management. The ICR has been approved in November 2002. |
