| Description | The project’s global objective is to conserve biodiversity by strengthening the system of protected areas in Bolivia. This will be achieved by: (a) developing a consensus-based, long-term state vision of the SNAP including its management philosophy viz-a-viz decentralization and private sector participation; (b) developing enhanced mechanisms to achieve the long-term social, financial, and ecological sustainability; (c) establishing and capitalizing a private Trust Fund; (d) improving the management of protected areas in the short and medium-term; and (e) enhancing understanding of biological trends within Pas |
| Implementation Status | The project implementation is satisfactory. Since October 2004, when the Grant Agreement was amended to finance 100% under all the Expenditure Categories, overall implementation improved substantially. The remaining period will focus on completing relevant studies such as the Protected Areas Master Plan, protected areas management plans and infrastructure. The delays incurred should not affect significantly the final project outcomes. |
