| Description | This project will assist Uruguay with the enabling activities necessary to undertake the third national inventory and to prepare the Second National Communication (SNC) to the Conference of Parties in accordance with guidance of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In addition, this project will help strengthen Uruguay’s capacity to fulfill its commitments to the UNFCCC on a continuing basis. |
| Implementation Status | The NGO CEUTA (Uruguayan Appropriate Technologies Studies Centre), developed several training workshops and activities on appropriate technologies for the reduction of GHG in the educational centers where CEUTA develops Appropriate Technologies Laboratories (LATAS). The activities took place at the LATAS of Villa Rodríguez, Baltasar Brum, Escuela Vicman, Caif Las Almendras Bella Unión and Colegio Pedro Poveda. In addition to that, during this period the Solar Energy Network met at a seminar/exposition organized by the NGO CEUTA with the support of the Climate Change Unit. The exposition and seminar took place at the Intendencia Municipal de Montevideo and had participants from all over the country, as well as international experts that made presentations about their countries experience on solar energy. An expert from the Climate Change Unit participated in the Twenty Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), held in Port Louis, Mauritius, from 26 to 28th April 2006. |
