| Description | The proposed MSP would build on activities supported under the IBRD/GEF OECS Ship Waste project related to the Grenada Dove. The proposed MSP would take a broader approach, with the goal of promoting the conservation of the dry forest ecosystem and component species of special significance in Grenada. Project activities would be based on effective stakeholder participation, and would include: (1) Environmental education, (2) Ecosystem management, (3) Biodiversity conservation research. |
| Implementation Status | After significant start-up delays, satisfactory project implementation performance has now been restored. The project team is now fully in place and the administrative and technical implementation of most project activities is well underway in line with the project's revised multi-year work program, procurement plan, budget and disbursement schedules. Key field activities initiated include: (i) baseline attitudinal survey to measure national awareness on dry forest issues, (ii) establishment of a task-force to prepare the opening of the Mt. Hartman Visitors Center by January 2004, (iii) national survey of the Grenada Dove according to the project's research and monitoring plan now completed, and (iv) a detail stakeholder analysis to guide the project's general interaction with stakeholders. |
