| Description | The project will promote the commercialization of solar water heating technology in the residential and tertiary sectors by conditioning the market for sustained penetration of the technology as a least-cost alternative under competitive market conditions. |
| Implementation Status | The 1997 project restructuring was successful and the market for SWH systems began to develop in September. Over 10,000 m2 of SWH collector area are now being installed p.a. bringing the cumulative total to nearly 37,000 m2, representing about 74% of the project's targets. The local industrial solar sector continues to be dependent on GEF subsidies. ANER, the implementing agency will submit a proposal to address this, based on a status report of actual environmental and economic performance of the SWH systems. The project is expected to be fully disbursed before project closing. Next Supervision mission scheduled for September 2002. |
