| Description | The objective of the phase II biodiversity-enabling activity is to assist Ukraine to assess capacity building needs, identify priorities, and build consensus with respect to meeting its obligations under the CBD. A Clearing House Mechanism will be established to accelerate implementation of the CBD through appropriate hardware, software, and technical support. Funding for the CHM was not available to Ukraine under the phase I enabling activity. The phase II enabling activity would also facilitate the consultative process for preparing the second national report to the CBD. |
| Implementation Status | The closing date of TF was extended to 9/30/2003 to complete the work as the funds were accessed nearly a year after grant agreement was signed. This delay occurred as a result of major changes in Ukraine's government and by the addition of a new administrative oversight function to the MoE's program that led to further delays. |
