Biography:

Claudia Ortiz is a Mexican national who recently joined the Climate and Chemicals team, as a junior professional associate.

Before joining the GEF, Ms.Ortiz worked as a consultant for the Center for Clean Air Policy, in Washington D.C., on a project for climate change mitigation in Mexico. Such project resulted in proposals for a solid MRV system for the country as well as the country's first secotrial NAMAs on the sectors of cement and steel. 

Ms. Ortiz also worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, Sub-Regional Office in Ankara, Turkey, as a researcher on transboundary water and energy issues in Central Asia.

Ms. Ortiz holds a Master's from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Medford, MA; where she focused her studies on the fields of International Energy and Resource Policy and Development Economics. Ms. Ortiz is a Fellow of the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico, which awarded her with a full scholarship to fulfill her studies at The Fletcher School.

Previous to her Master's, Ms. Ortiz worked as an assistant diplomat at the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations in New York City. She also holds a BA in International Business from the ITESM in Mexico.
