The Gangwon Declaration was adopted by delegates at the end of the high-level segment of the 12th Conference of Parties (COP 12) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
It outlines efforts needed to achieve the Aichi Targets and praises the entry into force of the Nagoya Protocol; it also reaffirms the need for partnerships amongst countries in scientific and technical arenas.
The Declaration recognizes the contribution of the Global Environment Facility, as the financial mechanism of the Convention, on mainstreaming biodiversity and implementing the Convention as well as the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020, and advancing Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
