Cyrille has joined the Global Environment Facility at the beginning of 2016 as a Senior Environmental Specialist working on marine and biodiversity issues mainly in Africa and Small Islands Developing States. From 2009 to 2016 he worked for the French Ministry of Ecology in Martinique (FWI) as a project manager on Biodiversity, Protected areas and Marine turtles. During this phase, in addition to local projects, he participated in Regional and National networks as well as in cooperation action with Cuba on marine biodiversity inventories. In the period 2001 to 2009, he spent 8 years working for the French National Forest Inventory on management, methods, tools, and data management. Prior to that he worked in Cameroon on genetic biodiversity of cocoa and coffee. He also serves as an expert to evaluate biodiversity projects funded by EU in the overseas territories and Regions in the Caribbean within the BEST initiative. Cyrille Barnerias has a Master Degree from Agro Paris-tech on management of living resources and a Master Degree on Forest Biology.
