The Ecuador National Dialogue involved two days of consultations in Quito followed by a project site visit on the third day to an integrated biodiversity conservation and ecotourism GEF Small Grants Programme project in the community of Yunguilla. The Dialogue convened approximately one hundred and twenty national stakeholders from the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Relations, the National Secretariat for Development and Planning, local and provincial government, NGOs, universities, private sector, donors, and resource persons from the GEF Secretariat and Agencies.
The Dialogue Agenda was designed to meet the following objectives:
- Promote deep understanding of GEF policies, procedures, and strategies.
- Strengthen national coordination and ownership of GEF operations.
- Share lessons learned from implementation of GEF projects.
- Contribute to refining the National GEF Strategy.
