The Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), as Operating Entities of the Financial Mechanism for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), invite interested countries to carry out coordinated engagement, in order to collaborate in programming GCF and GEF resources to maximize synergies.

Given the status of the two Secretariats’ work on programming—the GCF advancing in the process of Country Programme development and the GEF starting the GEF-7 phase where countries are developing their national portfolio vis-a-vis the programmatic directions strategies for the GEF Trust Fund as well as the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) and the Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF)—the second half of 2018 presents a timely opportunity to maximize the impact of available  esources. Both the GEF and GCF are engaged in programming exercises: GEF-7 phase opening with countries developing national portfolios for the Trust Fund, LDCF and SCCF; and the GCF advancing the process of Country Programme development.

This event will serve as an opportunity for ministers and heads of delegations to engage directly with the heads of the GEF and GCF on the topic of coordinated national engagements.
