The 2023 Introduction Seminar brought together GEF agencies, focal points, civil society organizations and other stakeholders, and the GEF Secretariat. Participants met with GEF partners and counterparts from other countries to discuss and review GEF-8 policies and procedures and to share lessons and experiences from the development and implementation of GEF projects and their integration within national policy frameworks.

As an accompaniment to the Introduction Seminar, please consider taking our free e-course from the GEF Academy: Introduction to the GEF

Please note that this course was developed for GEF-7; we are currently updating the course for GEF-8. By completing the course, you will gain knowledge of the GEF’s mission, history, and institutional structure. You will understand the organizing principles and areas of work in the Global Environment Facility. The e-course has five topical sections, each with short quizzes on what you have learned, and requires approximately 90 minutes to complete in one sitting; but you can also take it at your own pace. You will receive a certificate upon completion.
