Indonesia GEF National Dialogue

September 17, 2007 to September 18, 2007



The two-day Indonesia National Dialogue was convened by the Ministry of Environment and chaired by the current and previous GEF Operational Focal Points.  Representatives of the UNCBD, UNCCD, and UNFCCC Focal Points for Indonesia, central government sector ministries and agencies, local government authorities, non-governmental organizations, and GEF project managers participated in the Dialogue as did resource persons from the GEF Secretariat, NDI, and Agencies (ADB, UNDP, UNEP, UNIDO, World Bank).

The main objectives of the Indonesia GEF Dialogue were to:

  • Brief and update participants on new developments and policies in GEF 4 
  • Gain greater understanding of GEF focal area strategies and criteria of the adaptation funds 
  • Refine national priorities related to GEF focal areas

    The main results of the Dialogue were that:

  • Participants learned about the GEF's new directions and policies and procedures in GEF 4, including focal area and cross-cutting strategies
  • Participants were informed about Indonesia's GEF coordination activities, portfolio results and future priorities
  • GEF Agencies shared lessons learned about planning, processing,and implementing GEF projects
  • Indonesia's priorities in the GEF focal areas were reviewed and refined, and sectoral linkages and synergies with national sustainable development plans and initiatives were strengthened 
  • Based on key findings and recommendations of the Dialogue, next steps were identified and agreed upon
