Pacific Workshop 2020

As a follow up of two previous consultation workshops (first: countries only, second: countries and agencies), this meeting offered the last consultation opportunity for all Pacific Small Island Developing States and the relevant agencies and national stakeholders to discuss the GEF Pacific Island 2 Island (I2I) Program. Pacific countries and the agencies presented their latest thinking on the program in support of the national priorities and together explore how to move the program towards work program inclusion.

In addition, the GEF Secretariat introduced a new Country Support Program initiative -- Country Factsheets -- to provide the recipient countries up-to-date data and information on resource utilization and to enable operational focal points (OFPs) to make future programming decisions based on the remaining resources and effectively manage portfolio performance. The Thailand OFP team presented their robust internal mechanism in managing GEF project implementation progress, capturing lessons and tracking the actual project outcome towards the GEF results framework.

Participating countries included: Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.
