Funding SourceGEF Trust Fund
Project NameDevelopment of High Rate BioMethanation Processes as Means of Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
RegionAsia and the Pacific
Focal AreaClimate Change
Operational Program6
Approval Date1992-05-01
GEF Agency Approval Date1994-03-15
Project Completion Date2000-08-31

Project will introduce, demonstrate, and standardize a wide variety of cost-effective technologies.
Implementation StatusDuring 1998, construction work started on the biomethanation plant for treatment of tannery fleshing and sludge. Subprojects were set up - four have been completed and two are under execution. A third issue of the newsletter 'Bio Energy News' was published, workshops were held, and a second Tripartite Review meeting was held. Very good progress is being made.
