December 2, 2009

2 DECEMBER 2009 | Washington, DC -Two new GEF videos show case the innovative and inspiring ways local communities are working to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

High in the Himalayas, the people of Bhutan race against time to drain Thotomi Glacier Lake, which threatens to rupture in a tidal wave that would obliterate downstream villages. The new GEF video “Silent Tsunami” takes you to the high-altitude worksite where laborers, engineers and geologists race climate change to save their country.

Meanwhile the latest government and international efforts to develop markets and institutions supporting renewable energy sectors are featured in another GEF video that details China's explosive growth in innovative energy development.
