Hernán González
Food Systems Integrated Program Coordinator, FAO
Hernán González is the GEF-8 Food Systems Integrated Program Coordinator at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome. Since joining FAO GEF in 2013 as a Technical Officer, he has managed environmental and sustainable agrifood systems portfolios across multiple regions, including serving as Program Manager for the Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe and Central Asia regions. His work focuses on advancing integrated approaches to food systems, biodiversity, climate resilience, and natural resource management in line with GEF priorities and FAO’s strategic framework. He holds a PhD and MSc in agricultural and resource economics from the University of Maryland, and a BSc in electrical engineering from Universidad de Los Andes.
