During the Conference on Biological Diversity’s COP16 in Colombia, the Global Environment Facility convened a full-day event focused on how to transform harmful subsidies into positive incentives for nature, supporting achievement of Target 18 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
The conference looked at the ways misaligned polices affect the sustainability of fisheries, agriculture, and energy production; examined the role and potential of the private sector related to subsidies and incentives; and emphasized the power of aligning investments with nature-positive activity.
The Target 18: Creating the Right Incentives for a Nature-Positive Future conference was co-hosted with the Government of Colombia, the Convention on Biological Diversity, Conservation International, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, the International Conservation Caucus Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, the World Bank, and the World Economic Forum.
