Decentralized Wind Electric Power for Social and Economic Development (Alizes Electriques)
Project Summary
The project will work to establish a successful replicable, widely-used mechanism for sustainable diffusion and support of small-scale decentralized wind electric power generation units as a form of pre-electrification to support investments in social and economic development in rural and semi-rural Mauritania. The approach includes (1) determination of the needs, markets, and opportunities for use of small-scale wind electric technologies in the rural sector, (2) establishment of technical, financial, and institutional mechanisms for private sector-based introduction and sustainable diffusion of these technologies, and (3) implementation of an effective program of wind electric applications.
