Demonstration of Alternatives to Chlordane and Mirex in Termite Control

Project Summary

Broadly, the project aims to provide China with a learning opportunity to build knowledge and experience necessary to formulate a robust national program for phaseout of chlordane and mirex through environmentally sustainable and cost-effective non-chemical integrated termite management. Specifically, the project development objective (PDO) is to (a) learn how to cost-effectively and sustainably eliminate the use of chlordane and mirex in termite control in the Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces (demonstration area) through IPM; and (b) develop a national replication program for complete phase-out of chlordane and mirex in China consolidating the knowledge, lessons and experiences gleaned from the demonstration activities.
