The project development objective is to strengthen public and private efforts to achieve socio-economically and ecologically sustainable use of national forest and wildlife resources. Within this objective, the project seeks to: (1) promote the sustainable management of rainforests and savanna lands; (2) increase local community involvement in and benefits from sustainable management of natural resources; (3) improve the institutional and organizational capacity to implement new policies and regulations for forest management and timber industry development; and (4) enhance conservation of biodiversity and supply environmental services of national and global relevance. The project's global objective is to improve the long-term prospects for globally important biodiversity within Cameroon's network of Ecosystem Units.
