The project is to remove the key barriers to the implementation of selected, economically feasible en-ergy efficiency technologies and measures in the residential and the service sectors in Croatia, thereby reducing their energy consumption and the associated greenhouse gas emissions. The initial focus of the project will be on the counties of Istria and Rijeka, after which the activities are sought to be repli-cated in other parts of the country. In that regard, the project looks forward to co-operate also closely with the planned World Bank project, which is to support the establishment of the first Energy Service Company in Croatia. The overall potential to reduce country’s greenhouse gas emission by the selected measures and within the end user groups that are targeted directly under this project has been estimated at approxi-mately 2.0 Mt of CO2 by 2020.
