This project aims to enable Nigeria to respond appropriately to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) through the establishment of policy dialogue, analysis of climate change impact and response scenarios, promotion of greenhouse gases (GHG) inventories, investigation of Stage I adaptation strategies and the preparation of the first national communication to the Conference of the Parties. It will provide technical assistance and build national capacity to assist Nigeria in climate change abatement strategies through the strengthening of national institutions that are directly or indirectly entrusted with the country policy-making on climate change issues. The project will also enable Nigeria to seize the opportunity provided by the convention to harmonize climate change issues with national development goals
