This project aims to build capacity in Malaysia to advance national interests related to climate change. This includes capacity to respond to the UNFCCC, to more actively and effectively pursue energy and natural resource management activities related directly or indirectly to climate change abatement and adaptation, and to take advantage of new opportunities related to the procurement of funding or projects related to climate change. The direct objective of this project is to reduce the rate of growth of greenhouse gas emissions in Malaysia. The project will develop an institutional mechanism to coordinate the activities that are necessary to develop policy options related to climate change and comply with the provisions of the UNFCCC, including the submission of Malaysia's First National Communication to the UNFCCC.
